Just a reminder that this month's SAC meeting will be held on Thursday, January 24th (originally scheduled for the 23rd). More details on the agenda to follow! The latest news release from the Ministry of Education regarding Bill 115 is available at this LINK.
The following excerpt comes from this document: "Laurel Broten, Minister of Education, approved all 65 locally negotiated and ratified agreements submitted by school boards prior to the Dec. 31, 2012 deadline set out in the Putting Students First Act. CUPE has been given until Jan. 14 to ratify 110 local agreements." According to the TDSB, with the new contracts in place, unions will no longer be in a legal strike position. "As the transit debate continues across the City, I will be working to bring the issue into focus with a panel of transit experts at our Ward 23 Public Transit Forum. The goal will be to engage in discussion and build consensus towards a long-term, sustainably funded, city-wide transit plan. As you know, this is a cornerstone of my recently published 7-point Traffic Taming plan. Your input and feedback would be greatly valued. The forum takes place on Wednesday, January 30th from 7 to 9 PM in the Council Chambers at the North York Civic Centre at 5100 Yonge Street.
